With every day that passes, awareness grows and the need for a solution to the lead epidemic becomes increasingly evident. From homes, to schools and commercial buildings, more and more people are affected daily by exposure to lead and poison pipes. NO AMOUNT of lead exposure is safe. Lead Exposure can lower IQ, lead to behavioral problems, cause heart disease and even lead to death.
Change is Coming
Many states are beginning to mandate testing at schools and other public facilities where lead exposure from drinking water can occur. Lead disclosure in pipes and in water in real estate transactions may not be mandatory nationwide (yet), but the number of states requiring disclosure related to the dangers of lead in water is growing.
Eleven states require mandatory disclosure of pipe material, some of which specifically ask about the presence of lead pipes.
Twenty states require disclosure of general environmental hazards, including lead and other hazardous conditions.
ePIPE is at the forefront of the lead issue, creating awareness, urging disclosure changes in the real estate industry, and offering both its ePIPE and LeadSmart products and services as a viable solution to lead leaching.
