Leaks in swimming pool pipes were losing thousands of litres of water every day, resulting in high operating costs for additional chemicals and heating. Potentially high repair costs associated with conventional dig and repair methods forced the owners to look for an alternative and modern solution.
They found the ePIPE solution to fix leaking pipes in-place. ePIPE is used to restore leaking pool pipes in the United States. From inground backyard pools in Calfornia to high end pools in Beverly Hills, ePIPE had proven successful and cost effective.
This summer in the UK, ePIPE affiliate, Pipe Restoration Services (PRS), went to work restoring pools in the London and Hampshire areas using the patented ePIPE technology. In all cases, the restoration of the leaking pool lines was completed in less than 2 days. The customers praised the cleanliness, effectiveness and professionalism of the ePIPE installation.
First, a pressure test is performed and the leaking pipe(s) are isolated. The pipes are then drained, dried and sanded in preparation for the ePIPE process. The barrier/leak sealing epoxy is then applied to the inside of the pipes. The coating cures for about two hours and a pressure test is then performed to ensure that the leaks have been sealed. The pool lines are then returned to service.
In the UK, the ePIPE leak sealing technology has also been been applied in the restoration of lead water service lines and in 2013, Pipe Restoration Services was named the winner of the UK Energy Innovation Award for the adoption of the ePIPE technology, enabling it to seal leaks and protect natural gas lines.
The patented ePIPE process involves restoring pipes, in-place, with an application of an epoxy barrier coating resulting in a restored epoxy lined piping system. The process provides for a solution for pinhole leaks, corrosion control and the prevention of lead leaching from pipes for both commercial and residential piping systems. ePIPE service providers are located in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe. ePIPE products are sold under the brand names ACE DuraFlo®, PurPipe®, Nu Pipe® and ePIPE®.
